PURPOSE of HEART Adults
The purpose of HEART Adults is to unify the Senior Adults at Grace Avenue UMC so they can work together toward the mission and ministry of the church.
If you are 55 years old or older, some people call you senior citizens, empty-nesters, senior adults or mature adults. At Grace Avenue, you are HEART Adults! You are "Helpful, Experienced, Active, Reaching-Out and Thankful" working in God's Kingdom. It doesn’t matter what Sunday School class you attend, if you serve on a committee, if you are in the choir or participate in Bible studies...you are all HEART Adults. Yes, you are an “age-group,” like our children or youth, but more importantly, you are a vibrant, contributing part of this Church. HEART Adults at Grace Avenue are devoted to learning, serving, planning and living more active and exciting lives!
Here is a sample of what HEART Adults at Grace Avenue are doing:
Alzheimer’s Disease: What You Need to Know
Saturday, Oct 25th | 9:00am-12:00pm
Join us for a discussion about this disease and providing care for those with memory impairment. Topics include: warning signs, treatment methods, caregiver burnout and dealing with family issues. Contact Joyce Cravens at email@example.com.
Dance with Grace: Dance Classes for Senior Adults
Fridays, 5:00-6:30pm in Room 211
Join us for free dance classes! We always rotate partners, so there is no need to bring a dance partner. If you plan to attend, please register in advance by CLICKING HERE or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.

This is a class for senior adult couples that will be led by Joyce Cravens, Heart Adults Minister. The focus is on mapping your couple relationship. We are offering three sessions of this class in order to keep class size small.
This study is for single HEART ADULT women. We meet at the home of different Ruth Sisters on the 1st & 3rd Mondays of each month. It is a wonderful time for study and fellowship. Join us!
Te Amo Team
The Te Amo Team spends time visiting with those in assisted living facilities who can not get out. We assure that those on our list receive a weekly visit from the team. HEART Adults coordinate and lead this effort.
Brown Bag Bible Study (REGISTER)
Bring your lunch and be ready to have great conversation! Brown Bag Bible Study meets on Wednesdays at noon for various studies throughout the year. Be sure to contact Joyce Cravens to find out when the next study begins.
Satisfy your sense of adventure and join us for day excursions to museums, historical sites and other fascinating locations.
HEART Adults are ready to help where ever they are needed! We plan mission trips through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) to help with disaster recovery. All skill levels are needed.
Eating Out with HEART Adults
HEART Adults love to gather for meals together. We meet at different restaurants throughout the year for dinners and fellowship.
Ice Cream Socials, Movie Nights, Game Nights and More! We do it all!
Spiritual Practice Brunch
This is a bi-monthly brunch to help us grow in our own spirituality and learn how to practice it in the world.
Day in the Prayer Room
The last Monday of the month is HEART Adult day in the Prayer room. We will keep the prayer room staffed throughout the day.
Men’s & Women’s Retreats
Every year in the spring Grace Avenue holds separate Men’s and Women’s retreats. These are great times for reflection, study, fellowship and spiritual renewal. HEART Adults are valuable participants in these retreats.
