We have had so many opportunities for worship, study, prayer, fellowship and devotion throughout Lent this year. As we enter Holy Week, we hope to see you at Grace Avenue. Below is the scheudle for Holy Week as well as Easter Sunday.

Holy Week Schedule

Prayer Garden in Tom Graves Hall (Room 160)
Holy Monday - Good Friday | April 14th-18th from 8:00am-8:00pm
Come and share in a special time of prayer and devotion. The Grace Avenue Prayer Committee has set up various stations to guide you.

Holy Thursday (April 17th)
7:00pm | Worship Center
This service will provide a time of singing, reflecting with scripture, and sharing Holy Communion together as a community. We have prepared a very engaging time of active participation in worship including foot washing, paryer, and remembering the events of the last night of Jesus' life.

Good Friday (April 18th)
7:00pm | Sanctuary
Good Friday presents us with the opportunity to enter into Christ’s suffering on our behalf and walk with him. Join the Adult Choirs of Grace Avenue as they present Craig Courtney’s beautiful cantata, In My Place.

Holy Saturday (April 19th)
5:30pm | Worship Center
In the tradition of the early church we will anticipate and continue to wait on Christ’s resurrection by celebrating the baptism of adults and families in our congregation who have never been baptized. The service will include a special Holy Saturday message. The service, with its emphasis on adult baptism will not be a duplication of our Easter Sunday services, but instead is intended to be a unique event during Holy Week.

Lenten Collections

Children’s Collection for the Stop Hunger Now Project
This year our children are encouraged to find a way to that they too can make a donation towards the Stop Hunger Now Project (www.stophungernow.org).  Children are encouraged to give up 3-5 snacks a week and donate the money that the snacks would have cost towards Stop Hunger Now.  A collection JUG will be available in the EDGE room during Sunday School hours or your donation may be placed in the Children’s Offering JUG during worship.  No one is too young to Help Stop Hunger! Every 25 cents collected purchases one meal!

Fasting for One Meal Per Week to Support the Zip Code Project

Fasting is a powerful and transformational spiritual discipline. The Lenten Zip Code Project seeks to eradicate extreme asset-based poverty in the 75215 zip code in South Dallas. By fasting during one lunch per week, then donating your meal money, you can join with United Methodists throughout our conference during the Lenten season in making this a reality. Make donations to Grace Avenue UMC and be sure to note it for the Zip Code Project or CLICK HERE to make your donation on-line.
