Fishing Expedition

Jesus said: “Follow me and I will make you fish for people” (Mark 1: 17)

What is it?
The Grace Avenue Fishing Expedition is a year-long initiative to bring people into the life and membership of the church. Statistics show that the number one reason people join a church is that someone with whom they are in relationship invited them. For those of us who are already members of Grace Avenue United Methodist Church this is an exercise in discipleship. In order to follow Jesus, we must fish for Jesus.

How does it work?
Everyone who joins the Grace Avenue Fishing Expedition is asked to do three things:

  1. Attend the charter meeting at the beginning of the year where we will explain how the program works and offer a few “fishing tips”.
    • Charter Meeting: Wednesday February 17, 8:00-8:45 pm immediately
    following the Ash Wednesday Service.
    • Charter Make Up Meeting: Sunday February 21, 3:00-3:45 pm
  2. Commit to bringing at least one new person into the life and
membership of Grace Avenue United Methodist Church in 2010.
  3. Attend a celebration meeting at the end of the year where we will give
thanks and share some “fishing stories”. Date in early December TBA.
