Advent & Christmas 2020

In News by Kim Eiffert

Just like everywhere else, things are going to look a lot different at Grace Avenue this year.  Advent and Christmas will still have the same spirit of holy waiting and joyful celebration, but we have had to seek some creative options for gathering and celebrating.  Christ turned the world upside down by entering into our human space and showing us a new way.  This year we intend to follow that lead and open ourselves up to encounter Christ in new ways.

Please note that we are making plans based on current information as we navigate a pandemic.  All plans are subject to change as conditions change.  The health of our members and our community is our greatest concern.

A Different Kind of Christmas
Advent Worship Series
Nov. 29-Dec. 24
Here is a radical understatement:  Christmas 2020 will be different than any other Christmas we have ever experienced.  Many of our seasonal traditions will be interrupted, canceled or postponed.  Many of our expectations will be thwarted, revised or go unmet.  Can we have a different kind of Christmas and it still be Christmas?

Due to Covid-19 we will not be able to plan our annual mission trip to Guatemala.  We are collecting donations to fund the 3 houses that we would typically build.  The God's Child Project is a long-time Grace Avenue mission.  Help us support this program even if we can't be there!

I'll Be Home for Christmas
Traditions will look different this year and for some of us that means not travelling to see family. Grace Avenue's Emotional Home Team is working to connect those who are feeling isolated or alone this Christmas with other families in the church for emotional connections in safe, distanced ways.

If you (and possibly your spouse) are home for Christmas without family this year, let us know.  If you (and possibly your family) are wanting to connect and spread some joy, let us know.  Through Grace Avenue connections, we can celebrate being HOME with church family during this season.
