Sisters of Scripture Fall 2017 Study
2 Timothy Study
Wednesdays from 9:30am-12:00pm
 | 6-week Study Beginning Aug 30
Join our great community of women as we explore 2 Timothy through a study entitled Entrusted by Beth Moore. We were never meant to take this journey of faith alone or in secret. We need each other to stay the course and live lives of faithfulness. God has entrusted us with the great and mighty gift of the gospel, something too precious and life-giving to keep to ourselves. Participant books are $15.

Women’s Night Out:  Dinner & Conversation
Thursday, August 31 | 6:30-8:30 pm |$15 for Dinner  

Come join the women of Grace Avenue for a night of good food and conversation around the best-selling book and newly released movie The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.  We will talk about women, our families, needs in our community and how we are all connected by grace. Great night to invite women from the community to join us!  Dinner will be catered by Salsa’s Tex Mex.  Childcare is provided upon request.  Please register at graceavenue.org by August 29th at noon so we can order enough food.

Get to Know the Bible Young Adult/Young Professional Study
Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00pm beginning Sept 6th

Join us for 4 weeks of conversation about reading, understanding, and using your Bible. We will explore in-depth connections of scripture and history as we expand on our worship focus of The Bible Toolkit. No prior Bible knowledge or expertise necessary. Also, no specific book but will have discussion between Rob Bell’s What is the Bible? And Adam Hamilton’s Making Sense of the Bible, among other videos and other resources (and of course, your own Bible). Taking the Bible Seriously
Begins the week of Sept 11th
Monday mornings 9:15-10:30 am (Women’s Study)
Thursday mornings from 9:15-10:30 am (All are Welcome)

Many of the controversies in the Church today can trace their roots back to Biblical interpretation.  What does it mean to take the Bible seriously?  Does it mean you have to take it literally?  Join Laura Echols-Richter for this 3-week discussion about the Bible and how can it be an essential tool for living a life of faith.  We will use resources provided in the Atlas.  Register on-line or Contact [email protected] Childcare is available upon request.

Paul’s Letter to the Philippians

This 4-week study will explore Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Paul had a close and supportive relationship with this early Christian community. The class will be led by Bill D. Ball, Jr. who visited the city of Philippi in May. Please register in advance to receive the reading materials.

In the Wilderness – The Book of Numbers
Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm | Tom Graves Hall | Begins Oct 24th
OR Fridays, Noon – 1:30pm | Rm 216 | Begins Oct 27th
This study will focus on selected content from the Book of Numbers. The core of the book has little to do with math. It is about the Exodus journey of wandering in the wilderness. It prompts complex questions about our relationship with God and scripture. The class will be facilitated by Bill D. Ball, Jr. Please register in advance to receive the reading materials.

Rhythms of Grace Bible Study
Wednesdays at 10:00am | Sept 20-Oct 25

This class is for Heart Adult (55+) single women. We will discuss the book The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. For nearly 300 years this book has given both blessing and instruction to those who can be content with nothing less that knowing God and feeling God’s loving presence throughout each simple day. Brown Bag Bible Study
Wednesdays at Noon | Sept 20-Oct 25

Bring your lunch or just yourself! This class is for Heart Adult (55+) couples. We will discuss the book The Road to Amazing, which explores basics of following Jesus. Contact Joyce Cravens at [email protected] with questions.
