Holy Week & Easter 2023

Palm Sunday
Sunday, April 2nd
During Regular Morning Worship
Children are invited to participate in a Palm Processional as we celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and prepare ourselves for the journey to the cross and finally to Easter.

Prayer Labyrinth
Tuesday April 4th - Friday, April 7th
8:00am-8:00pm in the Worship Center
Walking the labyrinth is an ancient Christian tradition that combines prayer, meditation, and movement. There are many facets to this wonderful spiritual practice. In our fast-paced and hectic world, many people find it difficult to pray sitting still. The Labyrinth might just become your favorite way to pray.

Maundy Thursday
Thursday, April 6th
Come and Go from 6:00-8:00pm
Please join us on Maundy Thursday for an Upper Room Communion experience. Just like the disciples gathered with Jesus so too will we gather in small groups of 12. When you arrive on Thursday evening please begin in the Worship Center. The prayer labyrinth will be available throughout the evening. As others arrive, we will take groups of 12 upstairs for a personalized communion experience around the table.

Good Friday Service
Friday, April 7th
7:00pm in the Sanctuary
The Sanctuary Choir, along with oboe, will be presenting Hal Hopson’s, “Tenebrae: A Service of Darkness”. This will be a service remembering the final hours of Christ’s life on earth. The word, Tenebrae, is a Latin word which means darkness. Tenebrae services follow a tradition of the church that date back to the 8th century. As candles are extinguished, they symbolize the fading loyalty of Jesus’ disciples, and as the light lowers in the Sanctuary, this symbolizes the diminishing light of the world as Christ is crucified.
This is a poignant setting, written by one of church music’s most acclaimed composers. Hal Hopson is the great uncle of our very own Karyl Patredis. Plan to make this presentation part of your journey to the glory of Easter.
