Grace Avenue is forming Small Groups that will begin the first week of October 2020. We believe that living in community is key to our spiritual formation. We believe we need to lean on and to learn from each other. We believe that we are created to be in community with each other to celebrate our joys and to mourn our losses. We need community to help us develop as human beings, growing in our spiritual awareness, and maturing in our relationships with God. We need communities that let us be ourselves, as well as challenge us to grow and change. We need communities that will show us Christ and help us find Christ in ourselves.
What are Small groups like at Grace Avenue?
We have groups of all kinds; same gender, married couples, co-ed, similar life stage, and multigenerational. We ask for a 6 week commitment to meet once a week and follow the provided curriculum. This will allow the group to get to know each other. The initial 6 weeks will be held either in person with proper social distancing guidelines or through Zoom. You will have the choice as to what format you would like to be a part of. Once the initial 6 weeks is completed, the small group will then decide as a group how often they meet, what the format of the group will be, and where they meet.
Why Do I need to be in a small group?
Why Small Groups? At Grace Avenue UMC, we think community is essential for thriving in life and in faith. That everyone needs a spiritual home, and emotional home, and a physical home. We hope that being part of a small group helps deepen your sense of belonging as you grow in life and faith.
