Private Lesson Registration is going on now!

All ages welcome!

Have you ever wanted to learn to play an instrument or advance in the instrument you have? Now is the time! The Heart & Soul Academy is offering private lesson sessions in voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, saxophone, percussion, viola, violin and cello. The sessions are usually 30 minutes each. The lessons will be the same time every week for the school year. If there is an instrument you are interested in that is not listed above, please e-mail [email protected] about it, along with any questions.

Private Lesson Registration

Classes Offered

We are currently offering private instruction in voice, piano, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, flute, horn, percussion, violin, viola, cello, and clarinet. In addition, we have teachers available for art, drama, Kindermusik, and group classes in voice, guitar, and percussion, which will start in mid to late September. All teachers have at least a University degree (most with master’s degrees) in their specific instrument or arts concentration.

Lessons are taught throughout the week and can be scheduled anytime during the day or evening, but are mainly focusing on the time frame from 3:30 through 6:30pm Monday – Thursday. Lesson times are determined based upon open times slots and teacher availability.

The Academy year is based on the Frisco ISD calendar. Lessons begin the 2nd week of September and continue through May. Major holidays will be observed. Please refer to current academic calendar for specific dates.

Summer lessons are encouraged and are scheduled based on teacher availability.

Tuition and Fees

A registration fee of $25 per family is payable each Fall and Spring semester upon registration. These fees cover administrative costs, overhead, and special functions including recitals.

Tuition for private lessons is broken up into monthly payments of $124 from September through May. Each student is guaranteed 32 half-hour lessons over this time period.

Tuition for instrumental classes, art, drama, and Kindermusik classes will vary depending on the length of the class and the supplies needed. Classes require a minimum of 3 students and will be restricted to a maximum of 12 students, dependent upon the type of class.

Tuition for summer lessons will be dependent on the student and teacher’s summer schedules, equaling $35 for each half-hour lesson.

Tuition payments are due at the first lesson of each month. A late payment fee of $35 will be charged if tuition payment hasn’t been made by the 7th of the month. If tuition hasn’t been paid by the 15th, the student’s session time will be forfeited and given to someone else.

Payments may be made by check, mastercard/visa, or monthly bank draft (preferred). Please make checks out to Grace Avenue Heart & Soul Academy. Please remit payment to the Academy Director.

Tuition will be pro-rated for students who enroll mid-term.

To discontinue lessons, we ask that you please notify the Academy Director at [email protected] for your two-week advance notification so that we may adjust our attendance and accounting records.

Elizabeth Reed Wagner Scholarship Fund

Scholarships are available to select students who demonstrate financial need, artistic ability and dedication to instruction. Amount of scholarship will be determined on an individual basis and will require some level of financial commitment from the student. Final determination on how and to whom scholarships are awarded is made by the Academy’s advisory board. The scholarship fund will be funded by donations and $1 from each lesson goes towards this scholarship fund.

For those open to it, there will be ample performance opportunities including performing in worship services, recitals, and prior to worship services in the busking corner.

Make-up Lessons

Lessons are considered a standing appointment. Make-up lessons will be offered when either a teacher must be absent or the Academy closes due to inclement weather. Make-up lessons are not offered when a student is absent unless the Academy is given at least 24 hours notice. When adequate notice is given, a student is granted one make-up lesson per semester.

Student Responsibilities

Music and arts instruction is a discipline that requires commitment. Students are expected to be on time for their lesson and be adequately prepared through regular, daily practice. Each instrumental student must supply his/her own instrument for lessons (exceptions: piano, drum, percussion students). The arts are also a creative endeavor. Students should bring a positive attitude, open mind and heart, and a willingness to receive instruction.
