Faith & Politics
4-week study led by Pastors Jesseca Aziz & Alex Williams
Tuesdays @8pm on Zoom, September 22 – October 13
In November, we will elect 435 House Representatives, 35 Senators, and a Presidential ticket, not to mention the number of local elections that will happen all across our country. It seems that we are more divided and angry than at any point since the Civil War. We know that our faith is supposed to inform how we vote, but we don’t always know how to put that into practice. Besides, how can we talk about politics when it always devolves into a fight? Join us for this four-week discussion class to find out! This class will be led by Pastor Jesseca Aziz from our Grace Avenue Modern Worship community and Pastor Alex Williams from our Grace Chapel campus.
Important Voter Information
Grace Avenue United Methodist Church is 501c3 non-partisan organization and as such does not take a stance on a particular platform or candidate. Voter education is an important part of our mission to eradicate homelessness in whatever form it presents itself.
Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him,
who earnestly repent of their sin and
seek to live in peace with one another.
Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
CONFESSION AND PARDON
we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart.
We have failed to be an obedient church.
We have not done your will,
we have broken your law,
we have rebelled against your love,
we have not loved our neighbors,
and we have not heard the cry of the needy.
Forgive us, we pray.
Free us for joyful obedience,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
God Grant Me…
Sept. 13-27, 2020
It is often called “The Serenity Prayer” but in actuality it is a prayer with three focused nouns; Serenity, Courage and Wisdom. It also is a prayer with three focused verbs calling for our actions of faith; Accept, Change and Know. In these uncertain times it is easy to focus on things that do not produce anything useful in our lives. What would life be like if we focused on the things that God grants?

From August 23-September 6, 2020 our Sanctuary and Modern worship teams have compiled worship series specifically for their communities. The Sanctuary will be exploring moments in which we are surprised by God’s grace both in scripture and in life. The Modern team will look at how we can cultivate hope in trying times through labor and intentionality. Join us live for either experience online at 11:00am on Sundays. Recorded versions are always available if you would like to explore both messages.
On August 15, 2020, Grace Avenue United Methodist Church will turn 21! All are invited to help us celebrate; with gifts and games!

Back to School Blessings
August 7-9, 2020
We know this time of year is usually filled with anticipation and excitement about what the new school year has in store. This year our students, parents, teachers, administrators and all who work in our school system are facing complicated decisions and even more complicated emotions as we look towards the 2020-2021 school year. The last several months have shown us that in many ways we can’t rely on what we have always known and that we are capable of adapting to new and different circumstances. However, something that we can rely on is that our God is constant and ever-present in the midst of whatever challenges we face.
