A Different Kind of Christmas
Advent Worship 2020
Here is a radical understatement: Christmas 2020 will be different than any other Christmas we have ever experienced. Many of our seasonal traditions will be interrupted, canceled or postponed. Many of our expectations will be thwarted, revised or go unmet. Can we have a different kind of Christmas and it still be Christmas?
The original Christmas story from the Bible offers a resounding YES. In fact, the coming of the long awaited Messiah in the story of a baby born in Bethlehem rearranged expectations for all time. People expected a monarch, a military ruler and a power-broker. Jesus was a completely different kind of Messiah. He was a person of humble birth. He was a rabbi who taught about peace and justice. He often took the form of a servant and offered his life as a gift for all humanity.
Advent and Christmas 2020
Just like everywhere else, things are going to look a lot different this year at Grace Avenue. Advent and Christmas will still have the same spirt of holy waiting and joyful celebration, but we have had to seek some creative options for gathering and celebrating. Christ turned the world upside down by entering into our human space and showing us a new way. This year we intend to follow that lead and open ourselves up to encounter Christ in new ways.
Sunday, December 6, 2020
7:00pm: Online Communion Service
The service will be available on the Grace Avenue Livestream (graceavenue.org) and the Grace Avenue Facebook live page. We recognize this is a holy act that we celebrate every first Sunday of the month. In Christ we also acknowledge that there are no barriers of time and space. The Holy Spirit provides God’s presence in this time in which we are socially distanced. We however remain joyfully connected and are thankful to have this opportunity to share in the sacrament together. This is a live event and the service will not be recorded for later viewing.
Charge Conference 2020
Tuesday, December 1st at 7:30pm
On-Line Via Zoom
Our District Super Intendant, Dr. Ron Henderson, will be leading us in a celebration of all that Grace Avenue has accomplished in 2020. We will report on finances, budgets, staffing, ministry and tend to the business of the church as we come to the end of the year.
Grace Avenue Community Partnership
In Partnership with Corbell Elementary
Cold Weather Item Collection
Through November 22nd
Grace Avenue is excited to announce a new Community Partnership. We are now the primary partner with Corbell Elementary through Frisco ISD, serving as a mentor organization and helping the students and teachers with needs throughout the year. This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out and serve the students of need within our local community. Corbell services many students that live along the Frisco/Little Elm Border and the 423 Apartment community. The current need is for winter clothing.
November 8 – 22, 2020
We live in a time of counting and transaction; winners and losers, this for that. Things are measured not by what they are worth but what they cost. We are left feeling empty.
God’s goodness and abundance, however, is poured out beyond any measure we can calculate. When we share grace, practice gratitude and strive to glorify God we begin to experience the God designed abundant life that is beyond measure.

Even during this difficult time of COVID, the Frisco Helpers (FH) Ministry continued to provide household repair, maintenance, and safety services to the seniors and special-needs residents of Frisco. They placed a heavy focus on safety aids—grab bars in bath areas to provide support for those who are at risk for falling, installation of toilet safety frames and wheelchair ramps, and off-set door hinges to provide a safer and a more accessible environment.
